About the recipe
The first thing you probably think of when you hear "Purim" is delicious hamantaschen! We love eating the pockets (or ears) of the evil Haman. We have chosen a simple shortcrust pastry that immediately melts in the mouth. Try out the recipe with different fillings to create a colorful and tasty plate. Have fun!
Ingredients
4 eggs
480 g flour
120 g butter/margarine
170 g sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
pinch of salt
450 g filling
Instructions
Step 1
Place all ingredients (except poppy seeds) in a large bowl and mix well.
Step 2
Form a ball and divide it into four parts.
Step 3
Roll out each ball thinly and cut out circles with a glass (or similar).
Step 4
Place 2/3 teaspoon poppy seeds in the center of each circle.
Step 5
Fold the sides of the circle towards the middle and press together to form a triangle.
Step 5
Before baking, brush the Hamantaschen with beaten egg, place on a baking tray and bake for about 20 minutes at 175 °C.
