About the recipe

It's always the classics that make our hearts beat faster during the festivities. Sufganyot (or donuts) are definitely one of these absolute must-try recipes on Hanukkah. The soft deep-fried balls filled with your favorite jam are incredibly delicious and quick to eat.
If jam has become too boring for you, you can also use chocolate cream, vanilla pudding or lemon curd as an alternative. Good luck!

Ingredients

  • 125 ml milk

  • 50 g sugar

  • 42 g fresh yeast

  • 100 g butter

  • 2 eggs + egg yolk

  • 500 g flour

  • pinch of salt

  • 150 g smooth jam

  • frying oil

Instructions

Step 1

Mix flour with yeast and lukewarm milk to make a pre-dough and let it stand for about 15 minutes.

Step 2

Add eggs, egg yolks, sugar, butter and salt and knead everything very well.

Step 3

Cover the finished dough with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for at least 1 hour.

Step 4

When the volume has doubled, divide the dough into 14 balls and let them rise, covered, for another hour.

Step 5

Heat the frying oil (approx. 170 °C) and fry each ball for 2-3 minutes on both sides until golden brown.

Step 6

Fill the jam into a piping bag and pipe it into the dough balls from above.
